The University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) is a two-hour computer-based test designed to assess an applicant’s ability deemed important to practice in the field of medicine/ dentistry/ clinical sciences. The UCAT ANZ Consortium automatically releases UCAT scores to relevant undergraduate medical schools, prior to the student’s VTAC, UAC, or other high school-leaver application. The Consortium has announced all the relevant key dates for students who are planning to enter into medicine in 2022.

UCAT Key Dates
Applicants must select a day and time during the testing period to sit their UCAT exam.
UCAT Registration Information
To register for the UCAT 2021, students must create an online account with the Pearson VUE and will be given access to the test booking platform. Pearson VUE is the organizing body that administers the UCAT exam at a number of central locations. Applicants can register on the UCAT website.
Once you create an account, you are required to provide the information requested on the website.
Post-registration, applicants are allotted a UCAT ANZ ID number. The number will be visible in the top left corner of the account’s page and should be used in conjunction with Pearson VUE and the UCAT Australia-New Zealand Office.
Booking The Test
After successfully logging into the Pearson VUE account, students can choose a day and time to book their test. The test fee is payable at the time of booking via major credit card - Visa/Mastercard or Visa debit card.
NOTE: It is recommended that students book their UCAT exam during the early stages of the testing window as, if there are any mitigating circumstances, students may not be able to re-book their exam in the final sitting week of the exam.
UCAT 2022 Entry Requirements
The UCAT 2022 test is available to applicants whose educational level at the time of attending the test is either undertaking or have completed the final year of secondary school, or higher, ie., Year 12 as per Australian standard or Year 13 in New Zealand. Not all applicants who have commenced or completed an undergraduate degree may receive an offer to study medicine.
Students presently in Australian Year 11 or lower are not eligible to apply to undertake the UCAT.
Only a small number of UCAT ANZ Consortium requires international applicants to sit the UCAT and under specific required circumstances.
Applicants can sit the UCAT multiple times, however, they are allowed to take the test only once in a year of the testing period and if instances of multiple testing within the same year is noted, it will be termed as unprofessional behaviour and all results will be withdrawn effectively.
All UCAT results are valid for one year.

Late Booking Deadline For UCAT 2022
Late booking for the UCAT Test 2022 are accepted until 11:59 pm AEST on 31 May 2022 with an additional late booking fee of AUD $85.
Rescheduling And Cancellation
All applicants are strongly advised to book the UCAT date early in the July testing period, as students may book a late test date and encounter multiple problems, from health complications to personal issues preventing them from attending the test.
Students who are unable to sit their test at the time they booked, must reschedule their test, or their fee will be forfeited. Rescheduling can be organized through Pearson VUE Customer Services or through a student's Pearson VUE online account. A solid 24 hours’ notice is required prior to rescheduling.

The UCAT offers a number of accessibility options to the applicants. If an applicant has special educational needs, a disability, medical conditions, or a temporary illness, they may be considered for certain accommodations, special access, and additional test-taking time (UCATSEN). Some applicants, under specific circumstances, are eligible for the Concession Scheme and should apply for the scheme before booking the test. Once the ‘Concession Application’ is sanctioned, the applicant will be provided with a concession voucher code to use when booking the test to pay the reduced test fee.

Which Universities Require The UCAT?
Kindly note that the list of universities under the UCAT Consortium will be confirmed by January 2022.
UCAT 2022 Test Day
You should arrive 30 minutes prior to complete the check-in process. If you arrive later than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, your appointment and test fee will be forfeited. This also applies in extenuating circumstances such as transportation issues and family emergencies.
What You Will Need To Bring For UCAT
Candidates must bring BOTH of the following documents on the UCAT day:
- A printed copy of your confirmation email from Pearson VUE
- Photo ID for verification
The photographic identification must meet the requirements from the list below:
- Driver’s License (Learner’s permit, probationary status, or full license)
- Australian Key-pass Card
- Australian Proof of Age Card
- New Zealand 18+ Card / Kiwi Access Card
UCAT Test Centre Check-in Process
- Your ID will be checked
- Applicants will be advised to read the UCAT ANZ Examination Rules and sign the terms to confirm that they understand the test
- The staff will click a digital photograph of the applicant for security reasons
- All personal belongings, such as - bags, coats, hats or head coverings, calculators, papers, books. Pens, food/water, wallets, keys, mobile phones/and or electronic devices) must be placed in the lockers provided before the test begins.
- Staff also do a mandatory routine visual inspection of the applicant’s clothing, hands/arms, and any comfort aids. This is to ensure that non-permitted items remain outside the test room.
Sitting The UCAT
You will be allocated a desk space with a PC, keyboard, marinated notebook, and marker pen. Other applicants will be sitting the test at the same time as you. Hence, you are allowed to wear earplugs if the environment is distracting. Toilet breaks are permitted and the test timer will continue to run while you are absent from the room. If there are any issues, such as hardware/software problems or illness, this must be reported to the exam invigilator immediately. Once you have begun the test, the room will be monitored at all times using CCTV and/or an in-room test invigilator.
